Some service papers have survived for Jones and are digitised online. Harvey Jones from Heywood, enlisted September 1914, 5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers.  To Egypt 10/9/14 then to Dardanelles. transferred to the MGC. Wounded  16/9/17- Shrapnel wound groin and knee. Interesting set of papers – has sketch of wound sites.  Jones was also tried by DCM  (1918) in the UK when he was classed as AWOL at Scarborough  — with a escort he was supposed to collect an ‘absentee’ from the civil police but failed do so as specified?
