Henry John Smith, born Bristol, England. A storeman, attested Montreal 1914. Wounded 6/4/1916 gunshot wound to the foot.

Epsom, England, 17/6/1919: when on a bicycle was struck by a motor vehicle. Contusion with fracture of 5 & 6 Cervical Vertebrae [neck]…. ‘complete loss of function below this level’

‘When riding bicycle along Monger’s Lane, on 17-6-19 was run into by a Private touring car approaching a side road. He states that no warning was given till collision was about to occur. No Court of Inquiry has been held’ ….Active nursing in convalescent hospital for rest of life…. Invalided to Canada.
