Dundee Courier, 18 November 1944 refers to Hardie:

City Man Drowned.
Mrs. A Hardie, 116 Rosebank Street, Dundee, has received word that her husband, Pte. Alex. Hardie, R.A.S.C. (Motorboats), has been drowned on active service in the Middle East. Aterritorial, he joined up at the outbreak of war, and had served in th Middle East for four years. He was formerly employed in Cleghorn Works. He is the eldest son of the late Mr and of Mrs Hardie, 17 Campbell Street, Dundee. Two brothers are serving.
