1914-15 Star Medal Private Living, Essex R. and London Irish DOW 1918. Jerusalem

Medal correctly impressed ‘1532 Pte H. Living, Essex R’. A few of the letters are lightly impressed (see photo)

Medal Index card appears to show Living was discharged time expired 3/6/16,—then it’s annotated with his 18th London Regiment details (numbered 594708) So we assume he re-enlisted.

Henry Living died of wounds 30th March 1918, serving with the 2/18th London Regiment (London Irish Rifles) and is commemorated on the Jerusalem Memorial. The battalion was in action at the First Battle of Amman at this time.

Sadly his widow’s pension claim index card shows his second child, a daughter, was born 85 days after his death.
