1914-15 Star and British War Medal, Private Lever, Royal Fusiliers
Medals correctly impressed ‘G- 4637 Pte G.E. Lever R. Fus’ (number prefix on BWM is ‘GS’)
Some service papers have survived for Lever and are digitised online.
George Edward Lever, a carman, lived at Colham Green near Uxbridge, and enlisted 21/9/1914. Served with the 13th Battalion until shot through the shoulder and returned to England. (19/11/16)
After recovery he appears to have been sent back to France (8/6/17) Joining the 11th Battalion and was wounded again 22/8/18, being shot in the index finger, back to the UK 24/8/18 and transferred to the reserve 9/5/19
